The Vow Room FAQs

  • Do we need a marriage license?

Yes, you’ll need a valid Maryland marriage license to make it official. The process is straightforward, and we’re happy to help guide you through it!

Here’s how it works in Maryland:

    1. Apply in Frederick County: You must apply for your license through the Frederick County Circuit Court since that is where your ceremony will take place.

    2. The 48-Hour Rule: Maryland has a 48-hour waiting period. Once you apply, you must wait at least two days before your ceremony can take place.

    3. No Witnesses Required: Great news for intimate elopements—Maryland does not require witnesses to sign the license.

  • Elopement Package: $1,200

This covers your intimate ceremony and essential venue access. It is designed for those who want a beautiful, meaningful moment without the stress of a large production.

    Tiny Wedding Package: $1,900

For slightly larger groups (up to 15 people) with more time for celebration. This package provides the perfect balance of intimacy and a shared experience with your closest loved ones.

We believe in transparency and simplicity, no hidden fees, no surprises. Every ceremony includes the full experience: a beautifully styled seasonal altar, ceremony coordination, music, décor, and support from our team of registered officiants.

Our pricing isn’t just for a space; it’s for an experience. We’ve designed The Vow Room so couples can show up, breathe, and simply get married without the stress or production of a traditional wedding.

  • Yes! We’d love to officiate your ceremony and make it meaningful, warm, and true to you. But if you have someone special in mind, you’re welcome to BYOO (Bring Your Own Officiant).

A friend or family member can easily get ordained online in just a few minutes (usually around $50). We’re happy to support whichever option feels right for your day.

  • Yes! We don’t offer in-house photography or videography at this time, but you’re absolutely welcome to bring your own photographer or videographer to capture the magic. We love working with creative pros and are happy to coordinate timing and setup.

  • Whatever makes you feel powerful, beautiful, and you.

There are no rules here, just intention. Some couples arrive in gowns and suits, others in vintage jumpsuits, silk slips, or matching leather jackets. We’ve seen sequins, boots, veils, bare feet, and black velvet. We love it all.

The Vow Room is a space for self-expression and sacred style. Dress in what feels true to your love story.

  • We recommend booking at least two weeks in advance so we can give your elopement or tiny wedding the care and intention it deserves, but we also know that love doesn’t always follow a schedule.

We’re available 7 days a week, 24/7 through our online booking site, and we’re happy to accommodate last-minute ceremonies when we can. Whether you're planning ahead or caught up in a whirlwind romance, we’ll do our best to make it happen.

  • The Vow Room was created as a space for all couples to feel safe, seen, and celebrated. Love is love!

  • Absolutely. We believe your ceremony should sound like you. Whether you want to write your own vows, include a favorite poem, or weave in a meaningful ritual, we welcome it. Our officiants can keep it classic or get creative. It's your story, and we're here to help you tell it your way.

  • Up to 12 guests are included in our packages, but you can add up to 15 guests past that for $50 per guest. Dogs on a case-by-case basis. We do include children in the guest count, but please chat with us about your guest count needs. We are open to making exceptions.

  • Are witnesses required?

No, in Maryland, no witnesses are required to sign the marriage license. While the couple and the officiant must sign the document, you do not need to provide (or have the couple bring) additional people for the ceremony to be legally binding. This makes it even easier for couples looking for a truly private, intimate elopement experience.
